Cigar Box Guitars

I’ve recently become interested in expanding my instrument collection, but the frugal musician knows better than to step in to a music store unprepared.

And, coincidentally, I happened to find some empty cigar boxes when I was cleaning the basement.

Did you know you can make guitars, bass guitars, and other musical instruments from cigar boxes?

Well, you can, if you follow along with some of the instructions found online it is actually not terribly difficult at all!

It took me some practice, and my first attempts were somewhat pitiful, but after a few tries, I am proud to announce the addition of three new stringed instruments to the Jack Merlot canon.

I’ll try to publish some pictures soon so you can get a better look at what I’m talking about. All I know is, it’s been fun for the whole family so far, and I’ve even been able to outfit my new instruments with pickups, volume controls, and output jacks, so you can plug them into your amplifiers and whatnot, for a whole new sonic experience!

Cheerio!
